Founded at the end of 2016 with the support of the University of Verona, Sphera Encapsulation is today a reference reality in encapsulation technologies. An idea born from academic research

The idea behind Sphera Encapsulation comes to life in the University of Verona’s food chemistry laboratory. In 2012, Professor Gianni Zoccatelli began in-depth studies on the advantages of microencapsulation, a technology capable of improving the stability, bioavailability, and efficacy of various active ingredients. Microencapsulation has promising applications in the food and nutraceutical sectors.

The protagonists of sustainable innovation

The founding team of Sphera Encapsulation stands out for its expertise and vision:
• Eng. Martina Vakarelova: during her doctorate (2014), she specialized in microencapsulating microalgae extracts to develop functional foods. Her training was enriched with international experiences, including collaboration with the ONIRIS laboratory in France, led by Professor Denis Poncelet, a world expert in encapsulation.
• Dr. Francesca Zanoni: she focuses her studies on the nano-encapsulation of carotenoids, developing an innovative technology to encapsulate lipophilic compounds. The results obtained during her doctorate consolidate her position as an expert in the field.
Together with Professor Zoccatelli, Martina and Francesca decided to transform their knowledge into a company capable of offering real and sustainable solutions.
